Far From Home, 2024

SHORT FILM
2 minutes 12 seconds

Far From Home is a deeply personal visual exploration by Cansu Pylkkänen, reflecting on the universal search for belonging and the elusive nature of “home.” Through this project, Pylkkänen revisits the concept of home and its emotional significance, moving beyond physical places and embracing the intangible connections we share with loved ones.

The piece was created using a GoPro 7 Black and Fuji XT-30, capturing the serene beauty of Pamukkale, Turkey, a place that holds deep cultural and personal resonance. With the use of Adobe After Effects, Media Encoder, and Premiere Pro, Pylkkänen crafts a visual narrative that speaks to the warmth and comfort that comes from love, care, and support from those closest to us.

Rather than finding “home” in a specific place, Pylkkänen’s work illuminates the idea that “home” is found in the emotional bonds we share. The piece conveys that no physical space can ever truly contain the depth of connection and love that we feel for one another.

Home is the connection I have with my loved ones. It’s the feeling you get when you think about them. That warmth in your heart.
